Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC), a large community-based technical college in Milwaukee, WI, was using a labor-intensive paper-based scholarship management process before working with AcademicWorks. The Financial Aid Office managed the process manually, which made it time-consuming to collect applications, verify information, and award scholarships.

AcademicWorks moved MATC’s scholarship process online in about three months, working closely with staff to update forms and student data in Colleague by Ellucian. The change improved the student experience, reduced manual work, and strengthened award integrity; MATC collected over 1,000 scholarship applications in the first cycle, three times more than with the paper process. As a result, the Foundation could handle awards internally, the Financial Aid Office reallocated a full-time employee, and scholarships were awarded earlier and more consistently with donor intentions.
