Biola University, a four-year private university in La Mirada, California, struggled with a limited applicant pool, a single staff member managing the process, and a difficult scholarship verification workflow. Because application data couldn’t be easily verified against the student information system, the university had trouble matching students to its many funds and hesitated to advertise scholarships.

AcademicWorks implemented its scholarship management platform to import student data directly from the student information system, automatically match students to scholarships, and prequalify applicants with current information. The result was a much more efficient process that helped Biola expand its applicant pool, grow from about 85 funding opportunities to over 100, and increase awards from $380,000 to more than $850,000 in just two cycles. AcademicWorks also enabled Biola to list over 500 external scholarships on a single site, improving visibility for students.
