UK School’s stolen laptops tracked and recovered from India

Laleham Gap School, a Kent specialist school for pupils aged 3–16 with Autistic Spectrum Disorder and speech and language needs, relies on laptops daily for teaching and administration. After multiple thefts, the school needed a way to protect sensitive pupil and staff data, recover devices, and help bring perpetrators to justice.

The school deployed Absolute’s Persistence® endpoint technology and worked with Absolute Investigations, which traced one laptop to an address nearby (leading to arrests) and located another in Tohana, India, enabling recovery with law enforcement. The solution protected personal data, saved replacement costs by recovering equipment, and gave the school a demonstrable deterrent to future thefts.
