A Absolute Software Case Study
Southern Kern Unified School District (SKUSD) in Rosamond, California, serves more than 3,200 students across five schools, many of whom are socioeconomically disadvantaged. As the district issued laptops to all middle- and high-school students (650 devices in 2014 and another 650 planned in 2015), IT needed an effective theft-deterrent and recovery solution to protect the investment and prevent disruption to students’ learning.
SKUSD chose Absolute for its Persistence technology and rapid deployment via group policy. Absolute provided near real-time device tracking, audit-quality inventory reports, and the Safe Schools program to teach students and families how to protect devices. Combined with support from Absolute’s investigations team and visible deterrents (stickers and posters), the district improved recovery rates, preserved budget by reducing replacements, and gained better asset visibility and student safety.
