Rhode Island Blood Center protects donor information and locates laptops using Absolute

Rhode Island Blood Center, a six-location nonprofit that supplies all blood and blood products for Rhode Island, relies on laptops for data collection at more than 3,000 annual mobile blood drives. Lacking asset tracking, the Center feared lost or stolen laptops could expose confidential donor information and leave them out of compliance with AABB and FDA requirements.

They deployed Absolute on 72 laptops (with plans for 30 tablets) for easy, cost-effective device tracking and remote data protection. Deployment took weeks and since implementation they’ve executed six device freezes/data deletes—four stolen devices were wiped immediately and two were destroyed in a flood—while using location history to recover misplaced machines, reducing replacement costs and preventing donor data compromise.
