A Absolute Software Case Study
Syddansk Erhvervsskole, a technology college in Odense with about 5,000 students, 700 staff and roughly 4,000 laptops across two sites, faced a wave of burglaries that led to 56 stolen devices in a year. Replacing machines was expensive and could take up to 20 working days, disrupting teaching and forcing the college to find a way to recover stolen laptops quickly.
The college deployed Absolute (recommended by Dell), activating firmware‑embedded Persistence technology at build that re‑installs the protection even after reimaging or hardware changes. Absolute’s Investigations team works with police to recover devices and can remotely wipe or deactivate them (used to disable five laptops found in Saudi Arabia). The result: visible protection reduced thefts, quicker recoveries improved staff productivity, and the college saved on replacement costs.
