A Absolute Software Case Study
Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust, which provides mental health and substance misuse services to around 1.4 million people and employs ~3,500 staff across 100 sites, faced a growing challenge as NHS policy shifted many services into the community. Hundreds of mobile workers using laptops off-site made it difficult to control and track devices, raising the risk that patient data could reside on lost or stolen machines and exposing the Trust to Data Protection Act penalties of up to £500,000.
The Trust deployed Absolute on 2,500 laptops and desktops across its primary care areas and partner organisations, giving IT staff real‑time monitoring, auditable proof of remote data wipes, proactive alerts, and the ability to freeze devices, send user messages, or delete data as required. As a result, the Trust strengthened compliance, improved incident response to suspicious device activity, and added an extra layer of protection for patient data and Trust assets.
