A Absolute Software Case Study
Kwantlen Polytechnic University, a comprehensive undergraduate institution serving over 17,000 students across four campuses, was shifting rapidly from desktops to laptops. As mobile devices became common for students and faculty, physical security measures like cables and locks proved inadequate, exposing the university to increased risk of theft, data breaches and lost inventory.
Kwantlen deployed Absolute on its college laptops, enabling location tracking and recovery—one stolen student laptop was traced and recovered after appearing at a local flea market—and allowed IT to reconcile inventory and recover “drifted” machines. The solution protected the university’s IT investment and data, improved accuracy of asset location and status, and gave staff confidence to issue laptops for use anywhere on campus.
