Charles County Public Schools reduces theft and improves inventory accuracy

Charles County Public Schools, a fast-growing Maryland district serving nearly 27,000 students across dozens of schools, struggled to manage more than 14,000 desktops, laptops and mobile devices. IT couldn’t produce reliable hardware and software inventories, track missing machines, or verify reports of theft — and they were concerned about unauthorized file‑sharing software on district devices.

The district deployed Absolute to remotely inventory, secure and manage endpoints — freezing missing machines and displaying a return-to-IT message, enforcing naming schemes, and identifying problematic software. Inventories that once took days now take minutes, IT can push updates remotely, five stolen laptops have been recovered, and device loss by theft has stopped, improving accuracy, productivity and cost control.
