A Absolute Software Case Study
Capital Guardian Youth ChalleNGe Academy (CGYCA), a District of Columbia National Guard program that helps 16–18 year-old high school dropouts regain education and life skills, needed reliable laptops for classroom work and newly paperless GED exams. With a 29.7-acre campus, 12 buildings and capacity for 176 cadets, the academy received its devices only a week before opening and faced an urgent need to protect and track them across campus grounds.
CGYCA deployed Absolute—preinstalled in the laptop image so devices were protected before internet access was available—and used its geofencing and tracking features to monitor device location, deter theft, and recover missing units. Administrators can remotely freeze or wipe devices to protect sensitive cadet data, and the visibility and enforcement provided by Absolute has reduced thefts and enabled quick recoveries when devices went missing.
