A Absolute Software Case Study
Tullow Oil, a London‑headquartered independent oil and gas explorer and producer operating in 22 countries with around 900 staff, needed to protect highly sensitive geological and exploration data carried by hundreds of laptops. With roughly 700 staff regularly travelling to remote, high‑risk regions in Africa and Asia, the company required a way to secure devices and data beyond existing encryption when laptops were lost, stolen, or used abroad.
Tullow deployed Absolute to enable remote device control — locking misplaced laptops or performing secure remote wipes when theft was reported. In one case a stolen laptop in Ghana was wiped as soon as it reconnected, while other devices have been remotely locked and later unlocked to preserve user data and avoid rebuilding images. The solution delivered global data protection, geofencing controls, and operational confidence that sensitive information remains secure wherever devices travel.
