Absolute helps ECSO ensure compliance with the CJIS Security Policy and save lives in the field

Emergency Communications of Southern Oregon (ECSO) is a combined 911 dispatch center in Medford serving more than 200,000 people and 28 public-safety agencies, with 220 mobile computers in police and fire vehicles. ECSO’s small IT team faced a major challenge: devices often operate off-network via VPN, leaving IT blind to encryption status, software/drive issues, and the ability to prove or execute remote wipe/freeze as required by CJIS—gaps that could impair officers’ access to critical data and create life‑threatening situations in the field.

ECSO deployed Absolute to regain continuous visibility and control across all endpoints, regardless of location or network state. The platform provides a single pane of glass, automated reports on encryption and device health, and the ability to remotely freeze or wipe devices even with limited connectivity; it also supports application persistence for critical dispatch tools. As a result, ECSO meets CJIS requirements, reduced helpdesk time, improved endpoint hygiene and officer safety, and gained reassurance that devices are secure and operational when seconds matter.
