A Absolute Software Case Study
Kungälvs Kommun, the municipal authority for the town of Kungälv in Sweden, supplies around 5,000 laptops and tablets to senior school pupils (ages 12–18) to support learning at school and at home. While the devices are educationally valuable, about 17 devices a year were going missing, and the authority’s primary concern was the risk that pupils could be threatened with violence during thefts.
To address this, Kungälvs Kommun installed Absolute on its entire device fleet and ran local campaigns warning that devices are traceable. The measure has allowed pupils to hand over devices without risking their safety and has enabled recovery of the majority of lost or stolen units. The program has reduced theft risk, improved pupil safety, and is now being expanded to use Absolute’s geotechnology and analytics for better fleet management.
