Glass City Federal Credit Union Effectively Manages ALM and Deposit Risk

Glass City Federal Credit Union, a Maumee, OH–based institution with about $225 million in assets and 24,000–25,000 members, was struggling to maintain a robust in‑house asset/liability management (ALM) model. Executive Vice President David Kramb had long relied on Abrigo’s FARIN Foresight ALM software but lacked the manpower and ALM best‑practice expertise to fully leverage the model and keep up with growing regulatory and analytic demands.

To solve this, Glass City outsourced ALM to Abrigo’s Asset/Liability Management Advisory Services (formerly FARIN). Within about a year Abrigo’s team reduced the credit union’s data‑management burden—freeing Kramb to perform deeper analytics and scenario testing—while a core deposit study from Abrigo validated deposit valuation assumptions; the result was stronger, more efficient risk management, improved regulatory comfort, and the ability to train internal staff for continuity.
