Large Debt Collector Company faced a sophisticated invoice-fraud campaign in which attackers used a lookalike domain and spoofed the company’s COO to pressure accounts payable into paying a fake $30,000 invoice. The attack involved multiple back-and-forth messages and a malicious “reply-to” that routed employee responses to the adversary, creating urgency and social proof that nearly led to a large fraudulent payment.
