Gateway Church Focuses on Its Mission to Secure Trust with Its Congregants and Staf

Gateway Church, a large multi‑campus Bible-based church with more than 100,000 weekly attendees and 3,000+ protected mailboxes, was repeatedly targeted by phishing, fraudulent invoices, and staff/member impersonations—many of which bypassed Microsoft 365 defenses and consumed the security team’s bandwidth. To strengthen its defenses, Gateway deployed Abnormal AI’s behavioral AI/ML email security platform, integrated via API into its Microsoft 365 environment.

Abnormal AI automatically analyzes known-good behavior, relationships, and business context to stop socially engineered attacks before they reach inboxes; since deployment it has blocked 112,000 email attacks, protected 3,000+ mailboxes, and prevented advanced attacks that bypassed Microsoft 365 (phishing: 4,686; malware: 128; impersonations: 3,319; fraud: 566; BEC: 518), resulting in zero successful advanced email attacks in over two years and improved visibility through Splunk integration.
