Energy Performance Services Beat the 20% Savings Goal for Northside Mental Health Center

Northside Mental Health Center, a nonprofit serving more than 8,000 people annually across multiple sites in Tampa, FL, needed major HVAC and environmental system replacements but did not have budget room for the upgrades. ABM Industries was originally brought in to address minor indoor air concerns, then identified that the facility’s aging HVAC systems were operating inefficiently and needed a broader energy performance solution.

ABM Industries implemented its Bundled Energy Services (BES) program with facility-wide lighting upgrades, high-efficiency R410a HVAC equipment, centralized controls, ventilation improvements, and re-commissioning. The project delivered a net-zero budget impact through energy and operational savings, and Northside’s total utility costs fell 29% since launch, surpassing the original 20% savings goal while also resolving humidity and air quality issues.
