Case Study: Large Dry Dock meets electrification deadlines with ABM Industries electrical acceptance testing

Electrical Acceptance Testers Save Key Steps for Dry Dock

Large Dry Dock needed to complete acceptance testing for upgraded power distribution equipment supporting critical vessel maintenance and refit operations, but ABM Industries discovered that medium-voltage relays had not been programmed. Without the proper relay logic, breakers would not trip as required and the system could not safely energize on schedule.

ABM Industries stepped in with a NETA IV Relay Field Engineer who worked with the end user and contractor to develop, submit, and program the relay logic. This enabled the main switchgear and medium-voltage utility mains and feeders to function as designed, allowing acceptance testing to proceed, the energization deadline to be met, and costly delay penalties to be avoided.
