Brooks County Schools Projected to Save $10.5 Million

Brooks County Schools, a public school system in southwestern Georgia, was facing aging infrastructure and reduced funding across six buildings. With most capital funds tied up in an existing bond, the district needed to address failing HVAC systems, a new roof for the J.H. Wells Education Center, and updated security and communication systems without straining its budget. ABM Industries provided energy performance contracting along with custodial services to help meet these needs.

ABM Industries implemented comprehensive facility upgrades through its Energy Performance Contracting Program, including new rooftop units, high-efficiency HVAC systems, improved ventilation and building sealing, a roof replacement and coating, a sprinkler system, and campuswide security cameras, VOIP, water fountains, and hand dryers. The project is projected to save Brooks County Schools more than $10.5 million in energy and operating costs over 15 years, while also improving safety, comfort, and operations.
