Achieving LEED Certification for JFK Terminal 4

John F. Kennedy International Airport’s Terminal 4 was looking to improve the passenger experience while maintaining industry-leading sustainability and operational performance. The airport needed an expert partner in green cleaning and efficient janitorial services, and ABM Industries, its trusted provider for the past 8 years, was selected to help support those goals.

ABM Industries designed and launched a GreenCare program for Terminal 4, combining sustainable janitorial solutions with real-time monitoring and single-source operational support. The results included LEED Gold certification, a 30% increase in performance, 34% less water use than comparable buildings, and recycling of 51% of total waste, while also improving turnaround, facility uptime, and passenger satisfaction.
