MobyMax halved the cost of bringing live digital learning to millions

MobyMax, a fast-growing US EdTech company serving K–8 students and teachers, needed reliable realtime messaging to support game scores, team-based learning and anti-cheating tools after repeated outages and billing problems with their previous provider. To restore stability and scale their Realtime Panel, MobyMax selected Ably as their realtime infrastructure vendor.

Ably migrated MobyMax in two phases and provided presence and message channel features, live dashboards and proactive support, which let MobyMax consolidate channels, cut unnecessary message traffic and lighten server load. The switch reduced realtime infrastructure costs to less than half of the prior bill, cut message volume from about 2 billion to 500 million, supports ~20 million messages per day, and freed the team to build new product features like team games and Fluency Games.
