Big Brothers and Big Sisters Increase Mentoring Focus to Texas Youth

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas, a long-established nonprofit that pairs adult volunteers with at‑risk youth and provides scholarships, needed a true fund accounting solution to manage complex grants, allocate funds across departments, and eliminate time‑consuming manual spreadsheets so staff could focus on mentoring and program delivery.

By implementing Abila MIP Fund Accounting for accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting and general ledger—with a flexible segmented chart of accounts—BBBS streamlined reporting and grant tracking, saved $50,000 in 2013 (enabling mentorship for about 40 additional children), and increased efficiency in delivering scholarships and nearly 90,000 hours of mentoring to more than 1,400 youth.
