A Abila Case Study
The American Geophysical Union (AGU) is a nonprofit scientific organization (est. 1919) representing about 60,000 earth and space scientists and running membership, conferences, and journals. AGU struggled with fragmented data—multiple disparate systems (members faced up to 38 logins), no in-house association management system, and time-consuming manual data blending that prevented union-wide insights into constituent activity and expertise.
AGU implemented Abila netFORUM Enterprise as its customer database of record and used web services to integrate third‑party applications into a single data mart with unified logins. The integrated system created consolidated records for publishing, abstracts, registrations and memberships, allowing staff to find experts in minutes (vs. hours), address a broader market of ~300,000 contacts, deliver personalized communications, lower marketing costs, and make more data-driven decisions to advance AGU’s mission.
