PBS Coals, a top Pennsylvania coal producer handling about 3.3 million metric tons annually, was overwhelmed by more than 60,000 paper invoices a year, multi-language documents and complex packing-slip/PO matching. Manual storage and retrieval across off-site repositories consumed hours or days, creating delays and high administrative costs.

Working with ABBYY and partner DCA, PBS implemented ABBYY FlexiCapture in three days to scan, extract and export invoice and packing-slip data, automatically matching documents to POs from SAP in EMC ApplicationXtender. The solution reduced a process of up to ten steps to one, made records retrievable in seconds, accurately handles multiple languages (including Cyrillic), and produced immediate time and efficiency gains with minimal user issues.
