World-Class OCR Enables Students with Learning Exceptionalities to Read & Study Independently

ABBYY FineReader helped a middle-school teacher in Ontario tackle the challenge of making text-heavy course materials accessible to students with learning exceptionalities and varied reading levels. Manual retyping, cutting and photocopying to create differentiated lessons and study guides was time-consuming and limited the classroom’s inclusivity and productivity.

By using FineReader’s accurate OCR to convert scans into editable digital files, the teacher enabled text-to-speech access and rapid editing of materials, eliminating hours of manual work. The result: faster creation of multiple test versions and combined resources, a more inclusive classroom with reduced disruptive behavior, and reclaimed time for instruction and administrative tasks.
