While ABBYY OCR Guards Personal Data, MFP Users Can Sleep Calmly

A major MFP manufacturer in South Korea faced the challenge of meeting strict national data protection laws. Its existing solution for preventing data leakage via its multifunction printers suffered from poor OCR accuracy, especially for the Korean language, making it ineffective at detecting sensitive personal information in documents. To solve this, the manufacturer partnered with ABBYY and its partner, ReTIA, to integrate the ABBYY FineReader Engine.

The integration of ABBYY’s technology allowed the MFP to accurately classify documents and detect over 15 types of sensitive data, notifying administrators or redacting information securely. This ensured compliance with Korean legislation and achieved a high recognition accuracy. As a result, over 80 large enterprises in the country now use the manufacturer’s ABBYY-equipped MFPs, enabling the vendor to win new bids and rapidly expand its business.
