Connexions Berkshire, a UK not-for-profit supporting young people, needed to run a Participation in Positive Activities (PIPA) survey of roughly 9,500 individuals, capturing about 13 data items per respondent. Facing tens of thousands of fields to key in, manual processing would have been slow, costly and would have required temporary staff, so the organisation sought an automated form-processing solution.
They implemented ABBYY FlexiCapture 8.0 Professional to scan, extract and export survey data directly into their database. The system cut processing time from many weeks to two days, handled over 15,000 forms (with nearly 30,000 expected), eliminated the need for temporary hires, delivered quick ROI, and led to additional licenses and wider national adoption.
