Rhenus Assets & Services, the Shared Services Centre (SSC) of global logistics provider Rhenus, needed to process large volumes of time‑critical paperwork from 80 sites — purchase invoices, delivery notes and other documents — to ensure control, transparency and timely invoice settlement across a complex, international supply chain. The SSC handles up to 1.8 million documents a year and required more efficient, accurate data capture to meet tight logistics deadlines and preserve existing automated processes.

Rhenus implemented ABBYY FlexiCapture (with the Invoices add‑on) to centrally capture data from TIF/PDF scans, verify results via web clients and route indexed invoices into SAP workflows and archiving through integrated middleware. The solution was fast to deploy, delivered up to 95% recognition rates, supports 150 staff at 130 verification stations processing up to 150,000 documents monthly (around 1.4–1.8M p.a.), improved monitoring and control, and is being rolled out to additional business areas.
