Taiwan’s Ministry of Finance Leverages ABBYY ® FineReader ® Engine to Process 25,000 Tax Forms Per Month

Formosoft, ABBYY’s first value-added reseller in Taiwan, was engaged by the National Tax Administration of Northern Taiwan (Ministry of Finance) to handle 25,000 paper tax forms per month. The client relied on large-scale manual data entry to capture tax numbers, a slow and costly process that took about 3 minutes to process each page.

Formosoft evaluated OCR options and implemented ABBYY FineReader Engine to build a proprietary document-conversion solution. The new system cut processing time to 30 seconds per page, eliminated the need to hire additional typists, significantly increased productivity, and delivered substantial cost savings for the customer.
