Sberbank customers pay bills via mobile app based on ABBYY® technologies

Sberbank, one of Russia’s largest banks serving more than 1 million business clients (over 35% SMEs) and around 90,000 active users of its Sberbank Business Online (SBO) mobile app, faced a time-consuming, error-prone process: corporate customers received paper bills that had to be entered into the app manually. The bank wanted to speed up bill payments and boost customer loyalty by automating this routine task.

Sberbank integrated ABBYY Mobile Imaging SDK and ABBYY Mobile OCR Engine into the SBO mobile app so users can photograph a bill and auto-generate a payment order for quick verification. The on-device solution (iPhone and Android) works offline, reduces data-entry errors, lowers server load, and significantly shortens the time required for creating payment orders.
