A ABBYY Case Study
Raiffeisenbank, a major Russian bank with 207 branches and over 4,000 employees, needed a better way to provide English–Russian dictionary access across its regional offices. As the staff grew, maintaining individual desktop copies of ABBYY Lingvo became time-consuming and costly—each install and update had to be managed separately and licenses had to be deactivated when staff left—so the IT team sought a centrally manageable solution accessible via the corporate portal.
Raiffeisenbank deployed ABBYY Lingvo Intranet Server (trialed in spring 2010, rolled out company-wide by October 2010) to deliver fast, server-based dictionary look-ups and custom features like word-by-word translation, filtered searches, and selectable dictionary sets. The solution gave employees reliable, up-to-date general and specialized dictionaries (finance, law, accounting), allowed creation of industry-specific dictionary sets, and reduced total cost of ownership through centralized administration and no per-workstation installs.
