Prophete, a German bicycle manufacturer and wholesaler founded in 1908, faced a growing paper problem as its business expanded: up to 4,000 documents a day were exchanged by fax between locations, making central control and fast processing difficult. To improve efficiency and streamline business processes, the company decided to implement a centralized electronic archive and document workflow.

Prophete deployed DocuWare as a document management system and ABBYY FlexiCapture to automate data capture, scanning and digitizing dozens to over 150 document types. FlexiCapture extracts key fields from invoices and credit notes (about 100 credit notes daily), triggering automated workflows that speed processing, save roughly one man-hour per day, eliminate faxing and local filing, enable earlier payment discounts, and delivered a payback in just under two years.
