Non-Profit Certification Organization Automates Test Form Processing With ABBYY

The American Concrete Institute (ACI), a century-old authority in concrete standards and certification, administers roughly 35,000 tests a year worldwide. ACI relied on an aging, PC-based form capture solution (ABBYY FormReader on Windows XP) that had become high-maintenance and put productivity and business continuity at risk.

ACI replaced the legacy system with ABBYY FlexiCapture Distributed (deployed on Windows Server 2008 R2 and SQL Server 2013) with implementation support from UFC. The one-month rollout used custom scripting to export CSVs directly into ACI’s AMS, required no form redesign, and took only minutes to switch over—delivering a more stable, scalable, redundant solution that saves IT time, speeds result turnaround, and is licensed to process up to 600,000 forms for planned expansion.
