Microtek Develops OCR Package for Scanners Using ABBYY Software Development Kit (SDK)

The customer, Microtek, sought to develop an optical character recognition (OCR) software package to bundle with its scanners. To achieve this, they partnered with vendor ABBYY and licensed its FineReader Engine software development kit (SDK).

Using ABBYY's advanced SDK, Microtek integrated powerful OCR, intelligent character recognition (ICR), and barcode recognition technologies into its scanner applications. The solution, based on ABBYY's proprietary IPA-technology, provided dramatic improvements in recognition accuracy, especially for poor-quality documents, while preserving original formats. This allowed Microtek to offer a premium, feature-rich scanning solution to its users.
