MelitaUnipol Insurance Agency Ltd, a Malta-based broker and agency founded in 1997 with a portfolio of about 20,000 policies, needed to tackle growing paper volume, limited office storage and slow file retrieval. The company decided to create a searchable e-archive and digitize decades of accumulated documents to improve efficiency and regulatory compliance.

Working with SG Solutions, MelitaUnipol deployed ABBYY FlexiCapture, introduced a document destruction schedule and automated extraction to save searchable PDFs to a central database. The rollout began with the motor department (over 60% of documents) and digitized 160,000 pages (≈1.5 tons) in two months, producing an easily searchable archive, faster customer response times, improved staff productivity and reduced printing and filing costs.
