Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust Fully Automates Invoice Processing and Reduces Payment Risk

Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, one of the UK’s largest acute trusts, processes about 275,000 invoices a year from roughly 6,000 suppliers. It wanted to improve invoice automation and reduce manual work between its existing IDP solution and ERP system, since inaccuracies and inconsistencies were making RPA difficult to use reliably. ABBYY IDP was the vendor involved.

ABBYY implemented an IDP solution that more accurately extracts invoice data, feeds it reliably into the ERP through RPA, and reduces coding, validation, and training effort with prebuilt models and business rules. As a result, Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust reduced invoice processing time, lowered payment risk, and freed staff to focus on other critical work, while also gaining confidence to extend automation beyond invoices.
