Michigan Milk Producers Association (MMPA) is a farmer-run cooperative that markets 4.5 billion pounds of milk annually on behalf of roughly 1,200 farms, generating about 75,000 hand‑printed weight sheets a year. Those sheets were manually entered by highly specialized data clerks, creating a business‑continuity risk as skilled staff retire and making compliance, payments and audits labor‑intensive.

MMPA implemented ABBYY FlexiCapture (with partner UFC) to scan, capture and validate weight‑sheet data, integrate with their SQL backend, apply complex business rules, and automatically create archived PDFs and barcode/QR workflows. The solution eliminated most manual entry, accelerated access to records for farmers and auditors, reduced physical storage needs, and made the process performable by virtually anyone—effectively future‑proofing operations and enabling full rollout across the cooperative.
