Chris O’Brien Lifehouse, one of Australia’s leading cancer treatment and research facilities, needed a better way to manage a growing volume of paper-based patient records across more than 100 active projects and nearly 60,000 patients a year. With physical folders required for every appointment and inpatient stay, staff struggled to track bulky files and quickly find the right information for holistic, integrated care. ABBYY IDP was used to help address this challenge.

ABBYY implemented its Intelligent Document Processing solution hospital-wide to convert paper documents into searchable digital records with AI-powered OCR, handling about 90 different document types. The result was the elimination of 80% of paper records, faster access to critical patient information, and more efficient clinical and outpatient appointments through secure, real-time online availability.
