Global Food Redistributor Automates Inbound Purchase Orders to Narrow Digital Divide Among Distributors

Dot Foods, a family‑owned redistributor serving all 50 states and 25+ countries with over 109,000 products, faced a major manual‑processing challenge: thousands of distributors still sent multipage purchase orders by fax or PDF that customer service reps had to key in. That work consumed a 60‑person team and could take up to 45 minutes for a 15‑page PO, so the e‑commerce group was tasked with digitally transforming non‑EDI orders to improve speed and accuracy.

Working with Todologix, Dot Foods deployed ABBYY FlexiCapture in about a week to digitize inbound faxes/PDFs and feed automated POs into its i‑Series via a HotFolder workflow. The fast rollout onboarded the highest‑volume customers and now automates more than 700 distributors, cutting PO processing from 45 minutes to two minutes, reducing manual staff to four verification clerks, eliminating keying errors and freeing sales reps to focus on customers.
