A ABBYY Case Study
ADAC, Europe’s largest motoring organisation with about 14–14.6 million members, runs an annual reader survey in its magazine to gather feedback on car faults and service quality; more than 10,000 readers responded. Processing so many paper forms by hand would have required temporary staff for a one-off project, so ADAC sought an automated data-capture solution.
After evaluating several options, ADAC chose ABBYY FormReader. They scanned a blank questionnaire, created a template by defining checkboxes and numeric fields and tagging them for database import, then scanned completed surveys for automatic recognition. The system was quick to set up, produced high recognition accuracy with minimal verification, and cut processing time from weeks to just a few days.
