DjVu Technology Inc., a developer of high-rate image compression and secure document-publishing technology, was engaged to help Hyundai Construction address growing risks of confidential data loss across the company’s multifunction printers and communication channels. The challenge was to prevent accidental or intentional leaks and meet compliance requirements by identifying, classifying and monitoring sensitive information that often existed only inside scanned images.

DjVu integrated ABBYY FineReader Engine 9.0 (with DIOTEK) into about 50 MFPs to perform robust, multilingual OCR, automatic page-orientation correction, image enhancement, centralized storage, keyword monitoring and indexing, then compressed archives to DjVu format. The solution created a searchable enterprise repository, extended monitoring to data embedded in images, reduced information-security breaches and related costs, deterred unsafe printing and helped Hyundai Construction achieve stronger regulatory compliance.
