Bankstream - Customer Case Study

Bankstream is a data and software provider for accounting practices that needed a way to extract transaction data from clients’ paper and PDF bank statements in the UK—where many banks do not provide electronic feeds—without requiring accountants or clients to divulge internet banking credentials. The challenge was to deliver accurate, validated transaction data back to accountants in the same secure, automated way as Bankstream’s existing Livefeed service.

The solution was Scanfeed, a Microsoft Azure‑hosted portal built with ABBYY FlexiCapture and integrated with Bankstream’s processing tools (including Microsoft BizTalk and internal validation routines). Accountants upload PDFs, JPGs or TIFFs; FlexiCapture digitizes and validates statements overnight and the cleaned data joins Livefeed for automatic coding and downstream accounting use. Deployed quickly in 2014, Scanfeed now provides roughly a quarter of Bankstream’s processed data and delivers a cost‑effective, scalable capture service with distributed processing and controlled access rights.
