PAPCO, a Virginia Beach–based energy distributor serving thousands of customers across 15 states, was processing more than 600,000 invoice pages a year from 1,000+ vendors. Manual data entry into its Factor accounting system and a complex, multi-level AP approval workflow created costly delays, frequent overtime and difficulties with budgeting and audits.
Working with ABBYY and integrator ScanStore, PAPCO implemented ABBYY FlexiCapture for Invoices integrated with Factor and PaperVision to automatically extract, classify and route invoice data through its approval hierarchy. The automated solution reduced processing by up to six man-hours per day (about $30,000 annually), improved accuracy and approval speed—from roughly an hour to minutes—eliminated much overtime and made searching, budgeting and audits far more efficient.
