ABBYY Streamlines Enrollment for Worldwide Youth Mission Trips

Group Workcamps, a nonprofit subsidiary of Group Publishing that coordinates roughly 26,000 youth mission trip participants each year, was hampered by an aging, over-featured forms system that lacked support and would have required more than $100K in server upgrades. With three different camper forms (including handwritten project sketches), plus thousands of staff and participant evaluations and a seasonal three-month processing peak across 159 camps, they needed an accurate, easy-to-use solution that could integrate with existing form designs.

Eightfold Consulting implemented ABBYY FormReader 6.5 Enterprise Edition and FormDesigner on 11 workstations, capturing data from all camper forms, merging records into the Crew Assigning database, and producing camp-specific paperwork. The system processed 6,000+ staff evaluations and 20,000+ participant evaluations accurately and smoothly during peak season, avoided costly infrastructure upgrades, and left Group Workcamps well positioned for future efficiencies.
