American Heritage Insurance Agency, a small West Springfield, Mass. firm serving more than 6,000 customers, faced a paper-driven quoting process that slowed service and required extensive manual data entry—especially for complex fields like the 17-character VIN. The agency wanted to give clients more flexibility and faster auto-quote responses while preserving personal agent relationships.
Using ABBYY FormReader with a Fujitsu 4120C scanner, American Heritage built myAutoRater to capture policy data, populate its web database and let customers run “what-if” quotes online. The project scanned 12,000 pages in days (avoiding an estimated 1,000 hours of manual work), now saves roughly 150 hours per month, and produces about five online quotes per day and one new customer per week—improving customer satisfaction, differentiating the agency and enabling plans to expand the approach to homeowners’ quotes.
