ABBYY FlexiCapture® Processes Decades-Old Payslips for Peruvian Electricity Company

Luz del Sur is a major private electricity distributor in Lima, Peru, serving over one million customers and holding more than 30% of the national distribution market. In 2014 the company was required to submit employee payslips from 1979–1998 to the government — roughly 80,000 pages of old, typewritten, deteriorated documents that would have required time-consuming manual entry by five people.

Luz del Sur worked with partner Arnebuk Perú to deploy ABBYY FlexiCapture, which digitized and enhanced the typewritten payslips, exported data to Access and produced the required TXT files, and ran on two operator stations. The project finished in one month (vs. an estimated five), used three operators total, met government compliance, and the solution has since been adopted in three other internal processes and is used regularly.
