Facing a growing volume of varied paper documents and a manual, error-prone data-entry workflow, CPI needed to cut costs, boost throughput and improve recognition quality to remain competitive.

Digital Information Technology (DIT) implemented ABBYY FlexiCapture Engine 8.0 on a server-based architecture using fixed and flexible templates, OCR/OMR and automatic task distribution to classify and extract data. In the first phase CPI processed 5 million pages, saved about $25,000, and achieved higher recognition accuracy, faster processing and a reduced error rate; the company is now expanding the project to digitize 10 million more pages.
