ABBYY FineReader Engine SDK is integrated into Canon's EDMS

Canon Australia, a leading imaging-technology provider, needed to add reliable OCR to its electronic document management systems for imageRUNNER multi‑function devices and desktop scanners. The challenge was to find a cost‑effective, easily customizable OCR engine that offered high accuracy, multilingual support, TWAIN/ISIS compatibility, zone and full‑page recognition, and a COM‑compliant SDK for smooth integration with existing hardware and software.

After successful evaluation and testing with TopSoft, Canon integrated the ABBYY FineReader Engine SDK into its imageREAL Capture document‑capture software. The OCR engine delivered excellent recognition accuracy and required functionality, was bundled with Canon’s EDMS on MFDs, and provided users with direct, robust OCR capabilities and positive customer feedback.
