Kahlbacher Machinery, an Austrian industrial machinery manufacturer with about 120 employees, produces many product variants and operates a mix of production and distribution for replacement parts. Since 2001 Kahlbacher Machinery has relied on abas' ERP system to manage internal and inter-company processes, but faced challenges around full traceability of components and variants, streamlining production and distribution workflows, and keeping integrated processes up to date across sites.

abas implemented a highly integrated ERP solution for Kahlbacher—adding serial number management, software-based quality management, customer-vehicle management, modifiable BOMs, and a VPN between the Kitzbühel and Amstetten plants—while mapping production and distribution processes and enabling user testing before upgrades. The abas rollout improved process times, continuously optimized workflows, increased transparency for post-sales traceability, supports 45 licensed users, and allows system updates to be completed over a single weekend.
