Barcodat GmbH, a small distribution and service company in Germany, needed to replace its customized DOS‑interface software that lacked future viability and vendor support. After evaluating several providers, Barcodat chose abas GmbH & Co. KG and its abas ERP solution following discussions at the SYSTEMS trade fair; key‑user training began in September 2007 and the system went live on April 1, 2008. Barcodat runs the solution with 22 licenses and about 20 employees.

abas GmbH & Co. KG implemented abas ERP on a short timeline, migrating all master data and sales history back to 2001 and adding a customer information center, serial‑number management tied to scanners, and barcode‑based repair handling. The deployment centralized customer overviews, improved traceability and repair workflows, and optimized processes across sales and service — outcomes shared with other abas users — with a full 22‑user rollout completed at go‑live.
